EasyPark’s Park & Ride Makes Commuting Easy

Jul 29, 2014

VANCOUVER – July 7, 2014 -- It’s a problem faced by many people who work downtown: they want the personal convenience of having a car handy, but parking in the downtown core can be time-consuming and hard to find on certain days.

EasyPark to the rescue, with a new offering for motorists, which combines the convenience of the private car with the speed and convenience of public transit: the Park and Ride, using EasyPark’s Lot 15 at 6th Avenue and Ash Street, right behind the Canada Line's Olympic Village SkyTrain Station.

The EasyPark Park and Ride provides unlimited parking, seven days a week, just outside the busy and often congested downtown core, for just $199 per month. The price includes a TransLink single-zone monthly pass, which is worth $91 and allows unlimited travel in any direction throughout Zone 1.

“At EasyPark, we’re constantly thinking ‘outside the lines’ to help make parking – and commuting -- easier,” says EasyPark CEO Nigel Bullers. “This new offering will give people more flexibility and choices and let SkyTrain get them around downtown traffic, which can be horrendous – especially when there’s an event going on.”

“We listen to our customers,” says Greg Watrych, Client Relations Services Manager, “and they’ve been telling us they want less stress at the start or end of their day. Parking across the bridge and taking SkyTrain gives people a chance to take a breath before they start their day and unwind at the finish. A lot of our customers also like the idea of reducing the number of cars downtown and want to help achieve that when they can.”

“If you work downtown or are going to an event and want to look for the quickest and easiest way out of the downtown core, our Park-and-Ride makes great sense,” says Sandra Gee, Director of Operations. “We are giving a new option to people who don’t want to spend that extra time, gas and energy looking for available parking spots or simply just want to beat that downtown traffic to get a head start on their drive home."

Alternatively, for drivers who want to come downtown on weekends but don’t want to battle traffic congestion before or after their visit, EasyPark also offers a weekends-only package at Lot 15: unlimited parking on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, plus the single-zone monthly transit pass, all for $129 per month.

The special price of $199.00 per month amounts to a slight saving over the regular price at Lot 15 combined with the price of the transit pass. This represents another value option for people rather than the cost of renting spaces downtown.

Furthermore, Olympic Village’s central location allows for easy access by transit to businesses and attractions on the south side of False Creek, including Cambie Village, Granville Island, University of British Columbia and Commercial Drive.
