Two in a Row! EasyPark App Earns Industry Marketing Award

VANCOUVER (June 2, 2016) – For the second straight year, EasyPark and its innovative App have received high honours from the International Parking Institute. The marketing campaign surrounding the innovative product won the Parking Matters Marketing and Communications Award at the IPI’s annual Conference in Nashville, Tennessee and was one of only three recipients of “Best of 2016” honours.

The App is the only one in North America that does not require a lot code. It allows customers to find parking near their destination before arriving without spending additional time and fuel searching for a spot and to make a secure online payment. It has also increased customers’ physical security and reduced liability regarding violence in parking lots. The award-winning marketing campaign was developed in-house by a team of EasyPark staff that covered all departments.

EP Space PictureThe marketing included a mass email campaign, prominent signage at parking lots and a “First one’s on us” promotion, giving $10.00 parking gift certificates to new customers. Customer Service representatives were given new scripting, reminding people of the benefits of the App, and EasyPark provided free give-aways at special events around Greater Vancouver and partnered with the Museum of Vancouver in the #MakesMeHappy promotion.

How effective was the campaign? From October 2015 until January 2016, downloads of the App increased by 25,000 and App usage jumped by more than 16 percent; giving the customers the option to pay online has led to reduced costs for paper stock, coin collection and meter maintenance.

The app itself was designed in conjunction with PassportParking, creators of the software that runs the payment engine and enables many of the features, such as “pay here” GPS, Maps, and the Wallet function.

Besides increasing convenience and security for customers and lowering operating costs for the company, the EasyPark App is playing a role in reducing the company’s carbon footprint and maintaining the livability of Metro Vancouver.

This is the second year in a row that EasyPark has received Parking Matters Awards: in 2015, EasyPark was named “Best of 2015” for Brand Awareness for a number of initiatives, including the EasyPark App, as well as a Marketing and Communications Award for the EasyPerks loyalty program.
